During 2011 we consolidated our global management and leadership programmes in to two stages – the Essentials of Management Programme (EMP) followed by the Collaborative Leadership Programme (CLP).

Essentials of Management Programme

The EMP was launched in June 2011 and is designed to ensure that employees who are relatively new to management have the tools to handle a range of demands, building their people management skills to complement their specialist skills. The EMP is a 2.5 day course and strongly features networking opportunities.

Feedback has been very positive:

“I thoroughly enjoyed the programme and thought it was a very effective programme in terms of delivery and content.”

“Very good course – a lot of information covered and the course was covered well.”

“The course was excellent. The trainers were very knowledgeable and supportive, and managed the diverse group very well.”

Collaborative Leadership Programme

The launch of the CLP took place in November 2011. This programme has been designed to reinforce that collaboration and commitment of influential people is fundamental to Man. It focuses on learning the skills of leadership and collaboration, building a network of peers and accelerating the achievement of business goals.

The CLP is residential and consists of two modules of three consecutive days each. As part of the Collaborative Leadership Programme, participants take part in a “Make a Difference Day” which ties in with Man’s Corporate Responsibility agenda. For the first programme participants were asked to design and deliver a Leadership Conference to 40 students from a local Secondary School. After lunch both students and participants took part in team building and leadership activities at Outdoors in the City.

The day was a great success and participant’s feedback of the day has been extremely positive:

“Inspirational. It was great to learn from the students.”

“Make A Difference Day: Success! Such satisfaction in accomplishing such a great day.”

“Forget everything you thought you knew about or expected from this course. Tuesday was one of the best days of my life.”

“The outdoors event really made a difference; it was absolutely great to see how the students were motivated and developed their leadership skills.”
