Carbon Footprint
For the last 9 months of 2011, our property-based greenhouse gas emissions were 5,664 tonnes for electricity (16,747 MWh) and 660 tonnes for gas (3,595 MWh), with emissions resulting from air travel of 2,189 tonnes. On an annualised basis our total absolute emissions rose by 27% reflecting a full reporting period’s environmental assessment of GLG (acquired October 2010), whilst the corresponding normalised impact showed a 23% increase.
Our emissions should be viewed in the context of ongoing integration of GLG, the relocation of Man’s Head Office in London that consolidated two previous sites, further development of a Global Data Centre and Workplace Recovery facilities that, during the transition phase, duplicate existing infrastructure from which reductions are apparent only in recent months.

Carbon Footprint Per Employee
Mindful of our increased reliance on utilities throughout our global operations, Man participates in a wide range of emission reduction initiatives. Over the last year, 74% of our CO2 came from the gas and electricity consumed in running our offices, and 26% from air travel. We have implemented policies to increase efficiencies both in terms of our investment in new technology and our energy supplies that benefit from:
