How do we collect our non-financial data?

Our processes and systems to collect and report on performance data are driven by the principles and need for relevance, completeness, consistency, transparency and accuracy. This is achieved by compliance with a globally recognised protocol, use of a dedicated data management platform, independent third party scrutiny and an extensive performance dashboard.

Evidencing our performance

We can only evidence our performance as a good corporate citizen if we can access the necessary data to show how we’ve done against key performance indicators which both have integrity and represent the outcome of a documented and auditable process. We continue to develop our processes globally, in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, and locally to meet mandatory reporting requirements such as the UK Government’s CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme.

Data management and communication

In 2011 Man’s financial year end moved to 31st December from 31st March, to align the reporting cycle with that of the asset management industry in general. Consequently the last financial reporting period was for nine months.

A web-based Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability data management and communication system, Credit360, helps us gather diverse environmental non-financial data from across the business, and seamlessly aggregate it for analysis and communication to our stakeholder audiences via the internet.

Verification

We export data directly from the Credit360 platform to our Dashboard. The data, supporting evidence, conversion factors, and analysis are verified by independent third party consultancy, The Virtuous Circle.
