Engagement

Man has a long history of engagement with the communities in which we live and work.

The values we live through our community activities align closely with many of those we encourage professionally: values such as collaboration, teamwork and accountability.

Our community activities are focused within three strands:

1. Sponsorship
This is where we focus our activities primarily on literature and sport; two disciplines where a core value, excellence, is achieved through a combination of talent and effort and is clearly visible in action.

2. Philanthropy
Direct financial contributions via the Man Charitable Trust and our overseas charitable committees, along with donations of our time and expertise, are designed to achieve the maximum possible impact – both in directly relieving human suffering and in equipping people with skills such as literacy and numeracy which will equip them to support themselves.

3. Our people's engagement
sometimes backed by Group financial help, sometimes simply involving their time and effort; always at their initiative and for a cause important to them.

Holistic

Man has long recognised that we are part of wider society. Our health and vigour as an organisation relies on the health and vigour of that wider community; it is in our interests and in our mindset to support it.

Moreover, our business and our reputation relies above all on the calibre of people it can attract and retain. Outstanding talent exists 'in a seller's market'; given the choice, many would choose to work for a company of which they can be proud; a company whose values align with theirs.
